Scripture Meditations
Read the passages below. Look at it in a second translation if you prefer for added exploration.
Ask these questions
- What do we learn about the nations in this passage?
- What do we learn about the Lord in this passage?
- What is one thing I can do in the next twenty-four hours based on what I see in this passage?
Haggai 2:5–9, Orthodox Study Bible. Translation of the Septuagint | “My Spirit remains among you; take courage!’ For thus says the Lord Almighty, ‘Once more I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and the dry land; and I will shake all nations, and the choice things of all the nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty.
Acts 17:26-27 (ESV) | And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods [opportune times] and the boundaries of their dwelling place [where they would settle], that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.
Mark 10:29-31 (NLT) | “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, 30 will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.
John 4:23 (NLT) | But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
Revelation 21:23-22:2 (NLT) | And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there. And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city. Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.
